Breaking Barriers in AP Calculus AB AP Calculus AB is a demanding course, and many students need more support than they can get during the school day. This program is designed to function like weekly office hours: a small-group space where girls can bring homework questions, review the material they are learning in class, and work through difficult concepts with expert guidance. Students will meet once a week throughout the semester, with the program continuing into the spring. The fall semester includes 16 classes for $960. We created this format to make consistent, high-quality support more accessible to students who may not need—or be able to commit to—weekly one-on-one tutoring. Each session will be shaped by what students need that week. They can come with specific questions, review upcoming content, or get help making sense of a topic that did not fully click in class. Sessions will be recorded for students who are unable to attend, and a discussion board will give them a place to post questions between meetings. Megan and the other students in the group can help them think through the problem rather than leaving them stuck until the following week. Just as importantly, students will become more comfortable asking for help, using the resources available to them, and learning alongside other girls who are working through the same challenging course. We want this program to feel supportive, collaborative, and much like the office hours they will eventually encounter in college. |
